What is the Shared Battery Data Archive?

The Shared Battery Data Archive is a collection of battery statistics, organized by computer model, for Apple Macintosh laptop computers. It is a free resource for anybody to lookup, to evaluate the performance of own batteries, to elaborate statistics on battery life, power consumption etc.

Data is presented hierarchically. You can browse the list of models, which shows the number of available entries grouped by computer model, and then choose a particular model to browse all the actual entries.

The website is fully Web2.0, lightweight and unobtrusive: what really matters is battery data, isn’t it? If you like, there is also an RSS Feed to track changes and CSV exporting capabilities for the entries.

How does this thing work?

All the data present in the Archive comes from actual Apple Macintosh laptop computers. Relevant power info (cycle count, maximum capacity, original capacity, voltage ...) is collected during everyday use and stored in a database.

Data are collected anonymously and organized by sender using a unique ID. No personal information will be ever collected.

Can my own data be listed?

Yes, by using MiniBatteryLogger or MiniBatteryStatus Widget you can choose to share your data and send them to the Archive.

MiniBatteryLogger is a nice battery monitoring application that records battery activity, logs power events and helps you to evaluate the performance of your batteries over time. It is capable of monitoring batteries of other laptops running the application as well.

MiniBatteryStatus Widget is a colorful battery meter for Dashboard, a cool alternative for the battery menu item. By enabling the sharing service, MiniBatteryStatus allows your battery to be remotely monitored by another computer running MiniBatteryLogger.
